Maggie's First Christmas

Maggie got to spend her first Christmas in Tryon with Grandma Karen, Grandpa Wally and her namesake Great Grandma Margaret. Santa came and left a pile of loot for everyone but mainly for "the Magpie"...I guess being only 9 weeks she hasn't had much time to be naughty.

Magpie Rockin' to the Ramones

We're getting Maggie acquainted with all the classic Christmas Carols. Tradition is very important to our family.

Aunt Beth and Uncle Eric come to Town

Maggie got to meet her Uncle Eric and Aunt Beth who came bearing gifts of ultimate style as you can all see. We had a great time, and now we just need some good snow and baby skis and we're all set...

Turducken Day 2008

Maggie's first Thanksgiving was a success! All grandparents were in attendance, and we went with Turducken in lieu of the traditional turkey. Yum!

Counting down the days...

Less than a week to go, so Julia is taking it easy right?

If by "taking it easy" you mean helping me paint a roomful of furniture in the backyard, then yes.

You can't make that girl sit still!

mag pad

Its down to the final countdown and we finally got around to prepping for the newest member's arrival. Maggie now has a pad perfect for a princess complete with her own iPod and custom play lists courtesy of Daddy, who wants to make sure his little girl gets her fill of indie rock favorites as well as children's classics. Thanks to everyone and not 1, 2, but 3 baby showers... she is already sure to be spoiled rotten.

We'll find out this Wednesday if we'll have a definite date and time for her arrival, or if she has finally decided to play by the rules, let nature take it's course, and keep us guessing as to her birthday. We'll be sure and let everyone know what we find out. Either way it won't be long before she's here and most important that she's here safe and sound.

Thanks again for all the good wishes and we can't wait for you to meet her!

bathroom remodel #2

We decided to skip the beach trip this year in favor of four fun-filled days (5 really) in our hall bathroom, which was doing its best to hold onto 1985 with a ferociousness only blood, sweat, and a wallpaper steamer could overcome. I now know more about the inner workings of a toilet than I ever would have desired, and once again my mortal enemy old man wallpaper was there to spit in my eye.

Baby Shower in Tryon

Thanks to Wendy and her mom for hosting a great baby-party! Many gifts were received, cupcakes eaten, and mimosas enjoyed. Everyone decorated a onesie, some of which were true works of art. Thanks to everyone for thinking of us and Miss Maggie.

The mac daddy thus far...

Kitchen is almost complete, save a new light fixture which is still sitting in the box and a little touch-up painting. This has got to be the biggest change we've made so far.

Thanks in a huge way to Karen for all the hours she spent painting and removing 25 year old contact paper while Julia was at work and I was traveling. Without her help this would undoubtedly have been a month long project of nights and weekends, but we got it done in a week.

BTW.. wallpaper sux in more ways than I care to go into right now.

Cookin' six months...

No one panic, that's just a glass of mineral water (we swear).

How To.... Bedroom

A bit late posting this, but aside from putting things up on the wall its looking pretty good. Floors, paint, light fixture, door hardware, furniture. You name it, our bedroom needed it. Feels good to have it done.

No longer Alien Findley-It's a Girl!

19 week ultrasound ended the very long Findley reign of boys...a Findley girl is due to arrive this Fall!!! Here are a few chosen pics from today. We do have proof in a pic that she is, indeed, female but being that as it may we felt we could spare her the embarrassment of showing the world her privates. She is happy, healthy and doing well.

To the Moms!

Happy Birthday and Mother's Day Ladies, you rock!

Work-in-progess

Well, work has begun begun and we're starting to reap a few benefits. We have a place to sit now other than the floor, which is a big improvement. Lots of painting to come, but most of the living room and dining room is done so we at least have a place to relax now.

BTW, the floor refinishing went great and they look awesome.

Finally!

Everything went smoothly at closing yesterday, so we're now officially homeowners! There's a lot of work to do to make this place our own, but we're excited to get started.

We spent most of the day just poking around and making notes, and the real work begins today. With Josh's help I'm attacking the carpets in the upstairs bedrooms and hallway to get ready for the floor refinishers on Monday. If all goes well we'll have sparkling "new" floors by Wednesday night.

Feel free to have a laugh at some these pics. We definitely have our work cut out for us.

Yard Sale on Van Dyke Ave

Cleaned out the attic and made a few bucks to help with moving expenses. This is our second yard sale (one before leaving Athens) and its always amazing that people actually want to buy your old "junk". Most everything that didn't sell hit the curb mid-afternoon as freebies and was snatched up within a few hours. Gotta love it.

Mi Casa

So here's the new digs. When we're done, the bottom floor will be an exact replica of Space Mountain. Not sure about the attic yet...

Alien Findley @ 12 weeks

Wow-it's alive! It's alive! All seems well and healthy-just 6-6 1/2 more months and we're there!
